What follows is the preface to my book, 3 Habits for a Joyful Life: Serve, Grow, Share. It is an intimate look at the journey, the questions, and the spark that set everything in motion.

I’m sharing it here to offer a glimpse into the heart and purpose behind these words.

It was 1994 when I took my first steps in a lifelong personal development process. This new way of living captivated my interest; coincidentally, I had become a new believer and follower of Jesus Christ months before. 

The conjunction of events helped me focus on replacing old habits and pastimes with those oriented toward improvement. I started attending an Evangelical Church in Lima, Peru, with much hope for the future, a childish curiosity, and a renewed passion for learning.

As time went by, the study of the Word of God played a decisive role in my understanding of what matters most in this world: to live a life experience in its actual dimension, with a purpose that brings fullness to the heart and soul, as God desires for every human being on earth.

During the first stage of my new lifestyle, I understood that good and adverse events in a person’s life experience result from choices. Still, despite this, both events may bring opportunities for improvement. 

Some years later, I embraced the idea that one day, I would draft a book about the transformation I experienced and how different outcomes contribute to continuing development and growth in all areas of life if we can see the opportunity in every situation.

Therefore, I share my stories in this book, which taught me firsthand practical lessons through implementing three simple habits that are often overlooked or dismissed but powerful when made part of daily life.
